1 Peter 2:6-8 To believe or not to believe?

“For it stands in Scripture:

‘Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.’

So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe,

‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,’

and

‘A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.’

They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.”

“…whoever believes…for you who believe…”

The offer is for those who believe, for those whom God has called and been given the gift of faith. We will not be put to shame. We will receive honor. Not because of anything that we have done but because of everything God has done through Jesus Christ. Because we believe, we put away sinful patterns in life and we long for God’s Word to help us grow up. All of this is the result of what God through Jesus Christ does for us.

But…

For those who do not believe, Jesus becomes the cornerstone that they can’t get away from – A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense. Those that do not believe are destined to stumble and fall and eventually be crushed by this stone. Jesus will judge everyone.

So, what do you believe? In Whom is your belief?

Prayer: Father thank you for helping me with my unbelief. Thank you for giving me your Holy Spirit to assure me of Your love for me.
