1 Peter 5:1-4 Leading for God’s Glory
“So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.”
We may not be a pastor, elder, teacher, deacon in our church. We may not have a title, but we are all leaders. Someone is watching us. We are all role models to someone. We are all making disciples, followers of Jesus.
We are partakers in the glory that is going to be revealed. Awesome! Along with Peter we are going to live with Christ and experience His glory for eternity. We get to be with Him! Not only be with Him but partake – join – in the glory of Him. Participate in His glory. We will receive the unfading crown of glory.
We are saved for His glory. We are alive to reflect His glory. Oh, the glory that shines from His throne, from heaven and eventually from the new Jerusalem. Revelation 21:23 The earth is full of your glory. Isaiah 6:3. Do we see it?
Prayer: Father, leading your flock brings glory to you. Help us to lead willingly, eagerly by example so that Your glory is revealed. Remove all impurities and sin in my life that would hinder this calling You have given me. Amen
