Matthew 5:13
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.”
How are we doing with our saltiness? Jesus was speaking to his disciples whom he had chosen to go into the world and make disciples. They needed to be salty. Pure salt adds flavor and works as a preservative. Our mission here on earth is to bring the wonderful flavor of the Gospel to light and preserve the goodness of God among the nations. We should bring flavor and hope everywhere we go. How are we doing?
2 Corinthians 5:19-20 tells us that we are God’s ambassadors here on earth. We are the heavenly salt to be spread on a tasteless world. We have the living Spirit in us who makes us salty and shows the world how to be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 2:15-16 tells us that we are going to be a wonderful “aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved…”
Prayer: Lord God help me remain salty by staying close to You through Your Word and prayer. Help me be a good ambassador and reflect Your glory here on earth. I confess that I have not done a good job of either. I confess to You, Lord God, my ineffectiveness. Thank you for forgiving me and giving me grace. Help me live today for you, only You. Amen
